As part of the middle school's Brown Bag Lunch program, Paul A. Zenga, instructor of diesel equipment technology/heavy construction equipment at Penn College, has been teaching basic hydraulics to students in grades six through eight. (more)
Pennsylvania College of Technology received an $85,000 state grant to offer a selection of its plastics and polymer technology courses in high school classrooms through its Penn College NOW dual-enrollment program. High school students who take the courses are taught by their high school teachers and receive a grade and credits that will appear on their college transcript. (more)
A team of students in the physician assistant program at Pennsylvania College of Technology won the 10th Annual Student Challenge Bowl conducted by the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants during its state conference in Pittsburgh. With the victory, the Penn College physician assistant team moves on to the National Medical Challenge Bowl, which will be held May 29 to June 3 in Atlanta. (more)
William J. Astore, associate professor of history at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently offered the keynote address at the 11th International Conference on Ethics Across the Curriculum. Astore's presentation was titled "Civility: First Refuge of the Patriot?" It reinforced the conference's theme of strengthening civil discourse in the United States. (more)

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology students were awarded a total of $2,500 in scholarships following the annual Precision Heavy Construction Equipment Rodeo, an event held in conjunction with the college's Oct. 25 Open House. The rodeo pits Penn College students in heavy-equipment majors against students in similar programs at schools in Pennsylvania and New York. (more)

School of Hospitality students at Pennsylvania College of Technology will create and auction off chocolate houses for the benefit of Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity. The event is part of the school's annual Food Show and Chocolate House Auction on Dec. 4. Other student-created holiday treats, including decorated cakes, candy-filled chocolate boxes, cookie trays and yule logs, also will be up for bid. Patricia A. Scott, librarian and archivist in Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, has been recertified by the Academy of Certified Archivists, an independent, nonprofit organization of professionals in the field. To maintain certification, archivists must reapply every five years by taking a written exam or submitting a portfolio of professional activities. (more)
