Firefighters battled a controlled blaze on the tarmac at Penn State's University Park Airport on May 23 during a full-scale emergency exercise. The exercise was designed to provide real-time training and recertification for emergency response personnel from around the Centre Region.

Amy Burgess has been named the new women's volleyball coach at Penn State York. Burgess has been working with the team to prepare them for the 2011 season, which is under way.

"We are looking forward to the enthusiasm and knowledge that Amy brings to the women's volleyball program at Penn State York," said Chris Beaverson, interim athletic director at the campus. (more)

Penn State Fayette's Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Champion Women's Volleyball Team has won more honors. Samantha Hawk, Katie Sleasman and Heather Kelly were named PSUAC First Team All-Conference, while Alex Rossi received honorable mention. Head Coach Casey O'Brien was named the PSUAC Coach of the Year. (more)
