Nicholas Pentz has been named computer systems specialist in Penn State Beaver's Office of Information Technology. The position requires a broad range of skills, including knowledge and experience with personal computers, hardware and software, audiovisual and media systems, and procurement and budgeting. Additionally, he is qualified to work in a variety of operating systems, software, Microsoft applications, computer languages, and conferencing technology. Galaxy is a web-based framework developed by Penn State's Anton Nekrutenko and colleagues that combines the power of existing genome annotation databases with a simple Web portal to enable users to search remote resources, combine data from independent queries, and visualize the results. (more)
