Firefighters battled a controlled blaze on the tarmac at Penn State's University Park Airport on May 23 during a full-scale emergency exercise. The exercise was designed to provide real-time training and recertification for emergency response personnel from around the Centre Region.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

Continued power issues close HUB Computer Store

The HUB-Robeson Center is experiencing unexpected power outages to lighting and networking equipment again today (July 26). The Computer Store HUB location will be closed during this outage. Penn State has crews working on the power issues. The 12 Willard location and the online store remain open. (more)

Power outage continues to affect portion of central campus

A power outage occurred in the central portion of Penn State's University Park campus at approximately 12:40 p.m. Thursday (July 22), affecting Thomas Building, the HUB-Robeson Center, Penn State Bookstore, HUB parking deck, Grange Building, Pollock Hall and the Millennium Science Complex construction site. Shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday power was restored to most buildings, although air conditioning in the HUB-Robeson Center remained offline as of Friday morning. In addition, the Penn State Bookstore continued to be without power; crews continue to work to restore power fully to the remaining areas. (more)
