University Police are attempting to identify a vehicle and its driver in connection with a criminal mischief and theft incident. The vehicle was seen on camera damaging property at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Feb. 28 around Beaver Stadium. Damage caused by the vehicle included damage to gates, driving on the grass and knocking down two signs, including a "Paternoville" marker, which the driver then took from the scene. Police have identified the vehicle as as a gray or silver Toyota Camry with after-market hub caps. The vehicle should have substantial damage to the passenger side front and rear door, be missing the front passenger side hubcap, as well as have damage to the front bumper. Penn State University Police are investigating several incidents in which an unknown male contacted multiple female students offering them $500 Victoria's Secret gift cards. The male would refuse to identify himself and also would request to meet the students in person. Anyone who has experienced similar activity or has any information should contact University Police at 814-863-1111 or Centre County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-99-CRIME. Penn State Police continue to investigate a burglary that occurred in Willard Building at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 10. University Police are attempting to identify an individual seen on a surveillance camera.

Penn State Beaver has announced four faculty and staff appointments effective for the spring semester. Ana Beatriz Areas da Luz Fontes was named assistant professor of psychology, and Tiffany L. MacQuarrie was appointed instructor in English. Barbara Jean Bertges has been named assistant athletic director, and Anthony W. Budris is the new police services supervisor. (more)

Penn State Police have closed Shortlidge Road between Curtin Road and just south of the Smeal Business Building at Park Avenue on the University Park campus. Everyone is urged to avoid the area. The road will remain closed through 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19. The closure is due to a leak in a low-pressure steam line. It is unknown how long the road will be closed. (more)

A group of University employees attending CPR training took a break from class on Dec. 14 to witness firsthand the importance of being certified. In a ceremony held on the University Park campus, Penn State Police Officer Michelle Beckenbaugh and Deputy Sheriff Richard Smith of the Centre County Sheriff's Department were honored for their quick, life-saving response in a medical emergency. Michael Delullo, 21, of St. Marys, Pa., turned himself in to police at University Park last night after a domestic abuse incident involving a gun. Police said Delullo was involved in a dispute with a female student who resides in Donkin Hall in White Course Apartments on campus. During the incident, he displayed a handgun and threatened to kill himself. The female escaped the apartment and when she returned, he was gone. (more)
