Firefighters battled a controlled blaze on the tarmac at Penn State's University Park Airport on May 23 during a full-scale emergency exercise. The exercise was designed to provide real-time training and recertification for emergency response personnel from around the Centre Region.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

Each circuit of the American Bar Association's Law Student Division holds an annual spring meeting to bring law school leaders together to exchange ideas and develop camaraderie. This year Penn State's Dickinson School of Law will hold the 3rd Circuit spring meeting on Feb. 20, in room 112 of the Lewis Katz Building on Penn State's University Park campus. (more)

Penn State undergrads heading into their junior and senior years are invited to apply for a weeklong "Explore Law" program at the Penn State Dickinson School of Law. The program is designed to give participants a feel for what it's like to study law, from learning how to brief a case and analyze a statute to making an argument in court. (more)

Penn State Law students, faculty and staff in Carlisle will enjoy a long-awaited gift this holiday season -- the completion of Lewis Katz Hall and a move back to downtown Carlisle. This weekend the Law School will move Carlisle operations back to its historic location on the corner of College and South streets. Classes will begin in Lewis Katz Hall on Jan. 11. (more)

ABA grants law school's University Park campus full approval

The Katz Building, home of the Dickinson School of Law on Penn State's University Park campus, is open. Faculty and staff moved in just before winter break, and classes will begin in the building on Jan. 9.

The University Park campus of Penn State's Dickinson School of Law has received immediate full approval from the American Bar Association. The accreditation was accompanied by a decision to recognize the law school's University Park and Carlisle campuses as the nation's only fully approved unitary two-location law school. (more)
