Rose Marie Devlin thinks reading and early literacy skills are important, that's why as part of her internship at the Early Head Start of York County, she is collecting books to give to children during a book fair set for April 19. A senior in the human development and family studies (HDFS) program at Penn State York, Devlin, 31, is in the midst of a book drive and has placed drop off boxes on campus in the lobby of the Main Classroom Building and outside the Lion's Den of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center. Ten Penn State students have been selected as College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society 2011 Internship Award winners. The award, which includes a $760 stipend, was established to encourage students to enroll in internship courses offered within the College of Agricultural Sciences. (more)
Penn State Beaver senior communications major Amy Green was featured in the September/October 2011 edition of The Penn Stater magazine. 'We Know What They Did Last Summer' highlighted summer internships held by Green and eight other Penn State students chosen from a variety of Penn State locations. Green spent her summer working with penguins at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium where she helped clean exhibits, bathe and feed the animals, monitored penguin eggs for hatching, and conducted tours for the public. While hundreds of Penn State Smeal College of Business students are spending their summers at internships, co-ops, or summer jobs, a handful of students chose to take their talents overseas and they document their experiences on Smeal's Global Impact Internships blog. About a dozen Smeal students are writing about their experiences abroad in Australia, Bangladesh, China, France, Guatemala, Kenya, Nicaragua, and Spain, among other locations. Some of them are completing internships, while others are volunteering with nonprofits and serving the less fortunate in remote villages. (more)
Neha Pandit has been hired as a regional instructor in psychology and will provide internship supervision for Penn State Beaver, Penn State Kensington and Penn State Greater Allegheny beginning in the fall semester. She also will deliver psychology courses at the campuses. (more)

This summer, Penn State golf management students were spread across the United States, completing internships at some of the country's highest-ranked golf courses -- including Oakmont Country Club (Oakmont, Pa.), Crooked Stick Golf Club (Carmel, Ind.) and Shinnecock Hills Golf Club (Southampton, N.Y.). Many of these students owe these opportunities to Penn State alumni.
