Penn State York will celebrate its 42nd annual spring commencement at 6 p.m. Friday, May 4, in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) on campus. The ceremony is free and open to the public. This will be the first spring commencement for Lisa Plowfield, chancellor of Penn State York, since she took the helm at the campus in August 2011. (more)
Penn State Lehigh Valley will hold its annual commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pa. The campus will award associate and bachelor's degrees to roughly 60 local students. The featured speaker for the event is Brad Meltzer, a best-selling author and researcher on the History Channel series Brad Meltzer's "Decoded." Meltzer will sign copies of his books during the reception immediately following the commencement ceremony. (more)

Haag was invited to give the commencement address in recognition of being named the recipient of an Alumni/Student Award for Excellence in Teaching and a 2012 Penn State Teaching Fellow. This is a great honor and Haag is one of only two recipients of this award from throughout the Penn State system.
The Penn State Alumni Association, in conjunction with undergraduate and graduate governing bodies, established the award in 1988. It honors distinguished teaching and provides encouragement and incentive for excellence in teaching. Recipients are expected to share their talent and expertise with others throughout the University system during the year following the award presentation.

Through the end of the fall 2011 semester, Penn State has conferred a total of 686,793 degrees. As of spring 2012 the University's total number of graduates should approach 699,780. This spring Penn State expects to award approximately 12,987 diplomas to students University-wide who are completing 609 associate, 10,491 baccalaureate, 1,311 master's, 131 medical, 219 law and 226 doctoral degrees. At University Park 16 students are expected to receive associate degrees, while 8,537 will be awarded baccalaureate degrees. Approximately 979 master's degree students are expected to graduate, as are 226 doctoral degree candidates. All figures listed are estimates as of April 9. Franklin County Commissioner Bob Ziobrowski will address the graduating class at Penn State Mont Alto's 2012 Spring Commencement ceremony. Ziobrowski was first elected to his post in 2007, and he was reelected in 2011. He is a member of the Penn State Mont Alto Advisory Board, the Harrisburg Community College Franklin County Advisory Board, and the Wilson College Alumni Advisory Board. (more)

Tiffany Barlow has always been interested in helping people, especially children, so majoring in human development and family studies (HDFS) at Penn State York was the perfect choice for her. Barlow will graduate Friday night, Dec. 16, during Penn State York's 11th annual fall commencement, with a bachelor of science degree in human development and family studies. Not only will she cross the stage to receive her degree, Barlow is also serving as a student marshal for her academic program, which means she is the top graduate in her major. Commencement is set for 6 p.m. in the campus' Pullo Family Performing Arts Center and is free and open to the public. Penn State York is celebrating its 11th annual fall commencement at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center at the campus. Gary C. Butler, a 1971 Penn State graduate in physical education; and president and chief executive officer of Precision Custom Components (PCC) in York, Pa.; is the commencement speaker. PCC is a manufacturer of custom fabricated pressure vessels, reactors, casks, and heavy walled components requiring highly specialized machining, welding, and/or fabrication.
