Three Penn State students in the Master of Health Administration program (M.H.A.), received third place in the annual Health Administration Case Competition hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) on Feb. 11, 2010. In the competition, 24 teams of health administration students from universities across the country were challenged with developing solutions to the same real-world dilemma. This year, the competition centered on hospital and physician alignment. (more)

After days of sleepless worry, a Penn State College of Medicine graduate student from Haiti learned Friday that her father and grandparents are alive and well. Lynnsay Marsan, 25, a native of Port-au-Prince, had not heard from them since before a devastating earthquake struck the island nation last Tuesday. Marsan learned Thursday that her mother, sister and step-father had survived the earthquake unharmed despite the fact that their home had been destroyed. However, with no word about her father, grandfather or grandmother, who suffers from Alzheimer's, she left Hershey Friday morning in hopes of returning to Haiti. (more)

A 25-year old Penn State College of Medicine graduate student is attempting to return to her native Haiti to reunite with her mother and sister and try to find her father and grandparents. Lynnsay Marsan, a native of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, says she had spoken with her mother by phone just minutes before a 7.0 magnitude earthquake devastated the country on Tuesday. Her family's home in the Haitian capital was destroyed but it took two days for Marsan to find out whether her mother and other family members survived. (more)

Penn State is among seven universities that have received awards to improve the scholarly integrity and raise awareness about ethical responsibilities at their institutions. The Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) has asked the institutions to develop models for integrating research and scholarly integrity into the graduate school experience. (more)

A half-day orientation program for all new Penn State graduate students, sponsored by the Graduate School, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, in the Forum Building on the University Park campus. Sessions during the orientation will cover topics such as plagiarism, graduate student life and health insurance. (more)
