Head coach Bill O'Brien and the Penn State football staff will welcome high school players from across the nation to the Nittany Lions' 38th annual summer football camps, which get under way Saturday, June 2. Penn State will offer five football camp opportunities in June, including two advanced skills camps, in addition to position, youth and kicking camps. The Nittany Lions' coaching staff will be joined by some of the nation's best high school and college coaches to provide professional instruction during the camps. (more)
Penn State will resume its rivalries with Michigan State and Iowa and continue to clash with Wisconsin in the regular season finale during the 2015 and 2016 football seasons, as the Big Ten Conference office today announced the conference schedules for both years. Michigan State, winner of the 2011 Big Ten Legends Division, will return to the Nittany Lions' schedule in 2015 for the first time since the 2010 season. Legends Division member Iowa also returns to the Nittany Lions' schedule in 2015 after rotating off in 2013 and '14. (more)
A total of 16 former Penn State football student-athletes are participating in National Football League rookie mini-camps this month. Three more former Nittany Lions signed free agent contracts last week: tackle Quinn Barham (Durham, N.C./Detroit Lions), tailback Stephfon Green (Bronx, N.Y./Detroit Lions) and cornerback/kick returner Chaz Powell (New Freedom/Oakland Raiders). The renewal of the Penn State-Virginia series is set for a noon kick on Sept. 8 in Charlottesville, the Nittany Lions' fourth announced start time for the 2012 season. ABC will televise the contest from Scott Stadium. The Cavaliers are among the 10 bowl teams from the 2011 season that Coach Bill O'Brien's Nittany Lions will play this fall. (more)
The Penn State Coaches Caravan will make six stops at events in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut as the tour enters its second week. Football Coach Bill O'Brien will be joined by Lady Lion basketball coach Coquese Washington, men's golf coach Greg Nye and women's volleyball coach Russ Rose at various stops throughout the week. The Coaches Caravan, presented by the Nittany Lion Club and Penn State Alumni Association, is making 18 stops in seven states and Washington, D.C. O'Brien will be at each event, with 11 other coaches appearing at various stops. (more)
Penn State's Homecoming clash with Northwestern is set for a noon kick on Oct. 6 in Beaver Stadium, the Nittany Lions' third announced start time for the 2012 season. The Big Ten Network, ESPN or ESPN2 will televise Penn State's 93rd Homecoming contest, with an announcement on the televising network likely 12 days before the game. (more)
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Penn State All-America defensive tackle Devon Still (Wilmington, Del.) Friday (April 27) in the second round of the National Football League Draft. The 2011 Big Ten Nagurski-Woodson Defensive Player of the Year and Smith-Brown Defensive Lineman of the Year, Still was the No. 53 overall selection in the NFL Draft. Guard Johnnie Troutman (Brown Mills, N.J.), defensive end Jack Crawford (Longport, N.J.) and linebacker Nate Stupar (State College) were selected Saturday during the final day of the 2012 National Football League Draft. The Penn State Coaches Caravan kicks off April 30 with a lunch event in downtown Philadelphia and an evening reception and program in Delaware County. The Nittany Lion Club and Penn State Alumni Association are teaming up to give fans a chance to meet and hear from football coach Bill O'Brien and other leaders of Penn State Athletics with a bus tour encompassing 18 stops in seven states and Washington, D.C. during the course of three weeks. The first week also includes programs in Baltimore; Washington, D.C.; Richmond, Va.; and the Harrisburg-Hershey, Pa. area. (more)
Penn State will clash with Big Ten Conference foes Iowa and Ohio State in prime time during the 2012 season. The Nittany Lions will be playing at least one regular season night game for the 13th consecutive season. Coach Bill O'Brien's Nittany Lions will visit the Hawkeyes on Oct. 20, with kick set for BTN at 8 p.m. ET in Kinnick Stadium. Penn State will host border rival Ohio State on Oct. 27 for a 6 p.m kick in Beaver Stadium on ESPN or ESPN2. (more)
