Holly Moncavage, a junior in Penn State Law, will use her labor law fellowship for a summer position at The Workplace Project in New York, helping migrant workers pursue lost wages and unite for better living and working conditions. Jainendra K. Jain, the Erwin W. Mueller Professor of Physics at Penn State University, has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Election as an AAAS Fellow is an honor bestowed by peers upon members of the AAAS, the world's largest general scientific society and the publisher of the journal Science. Jain was recognized for his work on "the prediction of composite fermions." (more)

Stephanie Eldred, a kinesiology student, is the recipient of a 2010 Undergraduate Research Fellowship through the American Physiological Society. She is one of only 24 students across the country to receive this honor, and she will be working under the supervision of Donna Korzick, associate professor of physiology and kinesiology, studying the link between estrogen levels and heart disease in older women. Alinda Kokkinou, a doctoral student in the School of Hospitality Management, has been selected as a Juran Fellow for this year by the Joseph M. Juran Center for Leadership in Quality at the University of Minnesota. Kokkinou's research deals with self-service technology (SST) in a hospitality setting. (more)
Devon Trolley, a recent graduate of the Master of Health Administration program, has been awarded a prestigious David A. Winston Health Policy Fellowship. She is spending one year as a fellow in Washington, D.C., where she will visit national health policy centers and pursue a personal interest project with the guidance of key policy makers from the private and public sectors. Sharita R. Thomas, a health policy and administration student, is taking part in the Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars program this summer in Washington, D.C. Established by the Henry J. Kaiser Foundation in partnership with Howard University, the scholars program places college seniors and recent graduates in congressional offices where they focus their work on health policies issues affecting racial and ethnic minorities and under served communities.
