David Hall, who has served as interim dean of the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) since Jan. 1, has been appointed dean of the college by Penn State's Board of Trustees today (Sept. 17). "In the process of searching nationally, we found that we had an outstanding leader already at the helm. Dr. Hall has done an exemplary job as interim dean. He has the right vision, values and drive to enhance the college in the years ahead," said Rod Erickson, executive vice president and provost of the University. (more)
During a year of significant expansion and propelled by growth in outpatient visits, surgical cases and emergency department patients, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center exceeded its budgeted operating margin for the year, according to Harold L. Paz, Medical Center CEO, Penn State's senior vice president for health affairs, and dean of Penn State College of Medicine. (more)
Harold L. Paz, senior vice president for health affairs, dean of Penn State College of Medicine and chief executive officer of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, will provide a review of the organization's performance during fiscal year 2009-10 at the Medical Center's annual public Board of Director's meeting from 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15. Barbara I. Dewey, dean of Libraries and professor at the University of Tennessee, has been appointed Penn State's dean of University Libraries and Scholarly Communications, effective August 1, pending approval by the University's Board of Trustees. She will succeed Nancy Eaton, who has held the position since 1997 and will continue her ties with the University in retirement as dean emeritus. (more)
Marc E. Bridgens has been appointed dean of the School of Construction and Design Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Bridgens, who had been serving in an interim capacity, succeeds Tom F. Gregory, who was named associate vice president for instruction. Anne K. Soucy has been named assistant dean at the school. She had been a department head and faculty member in drafting and CAD technology. (more)
Bruce A. McPheron, associate dean for research and graduate education in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences and director of the Pennsylvania Agricultural Experiment Station, has been appointed dean of the University's College of Agricultural Sciences, effective July 1, pending approval of the Board of Trustees on March 20.
