The show, which will be presented as part of the Penn State Beaver Brodhead Cultural Center's summer season, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on July 26, 27 and 28, in the auditorium of the Beaver campus Student Union Building, Center Township. Children's auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the auditorium.

Children ages 9-13 and adults are invited to audition. Adults who audition are asked to prepare one song from the show or a song from a similar pop/rock musical. Auditions will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, April 29, and Monday, April 30, in the auditorium. Adults must schedule an audition time by contacting the Brodhead Cultural Center at 724-773-3610 or rxm70@psu.edu. Children's auditions will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, May 6, in the auditorium. Children do not need to schedule an audition time and do not need to prepare a song to audition. Children will learn a song taught by Reigel and will perform it individually. Children in the after-school program at the York Salvation Army will have plenty of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to eat, thanks to the efforts of students, faculty and staff at Penn State York. The campus community donated 326 pounds of the popular sandwich-making ingredients during the month of February, topping last year's 305-pound mark. (more)

The Beaver Valley Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association is conducting its annual Gift Drive for Beaver County Children and Youth Services (CYS). The gifts will be distributed to children who are CYS clients. Participants will be provided with the first name, age, and gift preferences of a child, purchase and wrap the gift, and drop it off to the Alumni Chapter. In addition, participants have the option of making a monetary contribution to the Alumni Chapter whose members will, in turn, purchase and wrap gifts for the children. Donors must attach a separate gift tag to each gift. Each tag must contain the child's name and caseworker number. The Alumni Chapter requests that each gift have a value of $25 to $30. Monetary donations can be made in cash or via check made payable to Beaver Valley Area Chapter PSAA and mailed to Office of Campus and Community Relations, Penn State Beaver, 100 University Drive, Monaca, PA 15061.

Even children use cellphones these days, and there is some concern about whether this puts them at risk. Children's brains and nervous systems are less fully developed and, because their heads are smaller, they face a greater proportional exposure to the radiofrequency emitted by the phones. (more)
Penn State York's THON Committee is having a Halloween Family Fun Fest on Saturday, Oct. 29 with proceeds going to The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, fondly known as THON, to help children with cancer through the Four Diamonds Fund at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. The event takes place from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center on campus and is open to the public.
