Firefighters battled a controlled blaze on the tarmac at Penn State's University Park Airport on May 23 during a full-scale emergency exercise. The exercise was designed to provide real-time training and recertification for emergency response personnel from around the Centre Region.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

O'Brien, staff to lead football camps starting June 2

Head coach Bill O'Brien and the Penn State football staff will welcome high school players from across the nation to the Nittany Lions' 38th annual summer football camps, which get under way Saturday, June 2. Penn State will offer five football camp opportunities in June, including two advanced skills camps, in addition to position, youth and kicking camps. The Nittany Lions' coaching staff will be joined by some of the nation's best high school and college coaches to provide professional instruction during the camps. (more)

Penn State Behrend baseball team wins ECAC South Region title

Senior infielder Joe Paterniti was named MVP of the ECAC South Region Tournament. He had three RBIs in the championship game.

Iowa returns to Beaver Stadium in 2015 and longtime land-grant rival Michigan State returns to the Nittany Lions' home turf in 2016.

Penn State will resume its rivalries with Michigan State and Iowa and continue to clash with Wisconsin in the regular season finale during the 2015 and 2016 football seasons, as the Big Ten Conference office today announced the conference schedules for both years. Michigan State, winner of the 2011 Big Ten Legends Division, will return to the Nittany Lions' schedule in 2015 for the first time since the 2010 season. Legends Division member Iowa also returns to the Nittany Lions' schedule in 2015 after rotating off in 2013 and '14. (more)

The Nittany Lion women's lacrosse team will continue its NCAA Championship journey on Saturday afternoon in a familiar place against a well-known foe. Penn State, the lone at-large team remaining in the 2012 field, will travel to Gainesville for the third time this season to face American Lacrosse Conference champion and No. 1 seed Florida (18-2) in a 12:30 p.m. quarterfinal match-up at the Gators' Donald R. The 2012 NCAA National Champion Penn State wrestling team continued to haul in national academic honors with the release of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Academic First Team listing as well as the top 30 team break-down. Fresh off notching 11 Academic All-Big Ten honorees, head coach Cael Sanderson's two-time defending champions had four wrestlers named to the NWCA's National All-Academic First Team. (more)
