Thirty-one outstanding adult students from the area were inducted into the Penn State York Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda during ceremonies on Thursday, May 3, in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center. Alpha Sigma Lambda is a national honor society that recognizes the unique achievements demonstrated by adult students in higher education programs. Students inducted into the organization must have a grade-point average of 3.2 or higher. (more)

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Participants will meet faculty, staff and students, tour the campus and discover more about Penn State York. Demand for medical and clinical laboratory technicians -- the professionals who help detect, diagnose and treat disease -- is outpacing supply because of increased medical testing and retirements in the profession. As a result, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment will grow 16 percent through 2018. To help meet this demand in central Pennsylvania, the Penn State Lewistown Center is launching a two-year medical laboratory technology (MLT) program in fall 2012. (more)
