Penn State World Campus, Continuing Education, Student Affairs and Undergraduate Admissions are hosting an employee information session on the employee tuition discount and other college-related subjects from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, in Rooms 129A, B and C in the HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus.
During this free session, University Park campus employees who are eligible for the University's tuition benefit, as well as their family members, are invited to stop by to talk with staff members from the sponsoring units about how they can use their education benefit. (more)

Penn State's online campus, the World Campus, earned an "Honor Roll" recognition for graduate-level education programs in the inaugural U.S. News 2012 Top Online Education Program Rankings. In lieu of number rankings, U.S. News created honor rolls highlighting programs that consistently rank in the top third among their peers. In addition, several World Campus programs ranked in the top 15 percent for various categories, including teaching practices and student engagement, student services and technology, faculty credentials and training, and admissions selectivity. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.--Students enrolled in the iMBA program at Penn State's World Campus scored in the top 5 percent on the most recent Educational Testing Service (ETS) Master of Business Administration (MBA) Major Field Test, a comprehensive national assessment for program evaluation.
The fall 2009 cohort of 50 students in this online program collectively scored in the 95th percentile in 2011, placing the Penn State iMBA program in the highest possible category, of 225 institutions administering this test to more than 4,700 students nationwide. (more)
Penn State adult learner Nicole Bianchi studied online in public libraries between her husband's Minor League baseball games. Lt. Michael Choe, a U.S. Navy pilot, and his wife Amanda Choe juggled the challenges of military life to complete their degrees online. They and other adult students who earned their degrees at University Park campus and online through the World Campus will be honored at a Penn State Outreach graduation celebration. (more)

Librarian Debora Cheney has been appointed head of Library Services to the World Campus/Penn State Online. Cheney will be responsible for developing and sustaining the University Libraries' strategic and administrative relationship with the World Campus and the online and e-learning programs of the University's colleges and campuses. The University Libraries have decreased the maintenance window needed for Internet resources, including The CAT, the online catalog, from two hours to less than five minutes daily. The new process, developed jointly by the Libraries' Department of Information Technology and Information Technology Services' Digital Library Technologies, takes only three to four minutes daily and occurs around 4 a.m. EST. Chris Holobar, manager of Lending and Course Reserves, said, ""This is a tremendous improvement in service to our World Campus students, particularly those in the military and stationed overseas, trying to access electronic reserve materials, and, of course, to our students and staff working overnight."
