Ramping up biofuels production to replace fossil fuels and provide a significant portion of the nation's energy will require nothing short of a transformation of the U.S. agricultural, transportation and energy sectors in the next few decades, according to a bioenergy expert in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences. "Global Sustainable Bioenergy: Feasibility and Implementation Paths" is a response to confusion and uncertainty on whether the world should look to bioenergy -- biofuels, heat and electricity -- as a prominent factor in meeting global energy needs. Renewable energy has become a hot topic now that the world's population is increasing and fossil fuels are declining.
