Penn State York recently established the first Renaissance Fund at the campus thanks to a $30,000 gift from Susquehanna Bank to meet the minimum endowment requirement for the fund. This Renaissance Fund is dedicated to students who begin their Penn State journey at Penn State York. This fund will provide a Penn State York student with about $1,500 per year at current endowment spending rates. The scholarship can be renewed each year for up to eight semesters. (more)
Penn State has recognized William A. Jaffe, a 1960 alumnus and a leader of For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students, as its 2011 Fundraising Volunteer of the Year. The award, which was officially presented to Jaffe on Oct. 14, honors the leadership of alumni and friends in securing philanthropic support for the University. (more)

For nearly 40 years the Renaissance Fund, through private support, has provided scholarships to Penn State students who showed academic promise and had great financial need. The University's Board of Trustees Friday (May 15) approved a plan to merge the Renaissance Fund, created as a nonprofit entity in 1969, with Penn State. Senior Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations Rodney P. Kirsch explained that the change was being made because a separate entity was no longer necessary from a legal or fiduciary standpoint. (more)

J. Lloyd Huck and Dorothy Foehr met during their first week as undergraduates at Penn State in 1940, a meeting that led to the forming of a partnership that has lasted sixty-five years -- and that has made a huge impact on both the State College and Penn State communities. Because of that impact Lloyd and "Dottie" Huck have been named the University's 2008 Renaissance Fund Honorees, and will be recognized at the 32nd annual Renaissance Fund dinner, according to Charles W. Rohrbeck, president of the fund's board of directors. This year's dinner will be held Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel on the University Park campus, with a 6 p.m. reception, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. (more)
