A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

The Blue & White Society and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics are teaming up to host the traditional "Rally in the Valley" football pep rally at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, in Rec Hall. The doors will open at 7:30 p.m. on the eve of the Penn State-Alabama clash. The Nittany Lion faithful will be pumped up and primed to get ready for the highly-anticipated Beaver Stadium Whitehouse game. All Nittany Lions fans are encouraged to wear white to the clash against the No. 2 Crimson Tide. The "Rally in the Valley" will feature Coach Joe Paterno, the Penn State football team, Penn State cheerleaders, Lionettes dance team, the Blue Band, and the Nittany Lion. T-shirts will be given away at the pep rally. (more)

The Blue & White Society and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics are teaming up to host the traditional "Rally in the Valley" football pep rally at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lion faithful will be pumped up and primed to get ready for the widely anticipated Beaver Stadium primetime clash between Penn State and Michigan on Saturday. The "Rally in the Valley" will begin immediately after the Penn State-Indiana women's volleyball match, which begins at 6:30 p.m. The first 5,500 fans who either remain at the volleyball match or arrive at Rec Hall will be admitted. The Blue & White Society and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics are teaming up to host the traditional Rally in the Valley football pep rally at approximately 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, in the Bryce Jordan Center following the Nittany Lion basketball team's exhibition game against Slippery Rock. Saturday's Ohio State football game has been declared a Penn State student White Out, and all students are encouraged to wear white to the game. (more)

The Rally in the Valley will help kick off Penn State's Big Ten schedule and will feature Coach Joe Paterno, the Penn State football team, Penn State cheerleaders, Lionettes dance team, the Blue Band and the Nittany Lion. The Blue & White Society and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics are teaming up to host the traditional "Rally in the Valley" football pep rally Friday, Nov. 21 in Rec Hall in anticipation of Saturday's showdown between No. 8 Penn State and No. 15 Michigan State. The rally will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m., immediately following the women's volleyball match between unbeaten and No. 1 ranked Penn State and Northwestern at 7 p.m. The Nittany Lions are 28-0 overall and 16-0 in Big Ten play, and with their next victory, would earn their sixth consecutive outright conference title. Exuberant fans packed Rec Hall Friday night for Rally in the Valley, sponsored by the Blue & White Society and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics. Head football coach Joe Paterno, the Penn State football team, the Penn State cheerleaders, Lionettes dance team, the Blue Band and the Nittany Lion mascot all participated in the pep rally in advance of Saturday's football game, the Big Ten opener for both teams. Earlier in the day, ABC Sports play-by-play broadcaster Brent Musburger, the network's lead voice for college football, participated in a question-and-answer session with Penn State sports journalism students and the public in the Founder's Lounge of the Bryce Jordan Center. The free public session was presented by the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism, housed in the College of Communications at the University. Saturday's clash against No. 21 Illinois has been declared a Penn State White Out. All fans are requested to wear white to the sold-out contest.
