Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, WPSU will bring live election coverage to central Pennsylvania. WPSU-FM and the station's Vote '08 Web page, found at http://wpsu.org/vote08, will post the results as they come in from the polls. The Web site will be updated throughout the night with live election results. WPSU-FM and the Web page will offer results from the presidential primary, the 5th Congressional District primary, discussion on the races and more. (more)
An estimated 1,500 people turned out to see Sen. Hillary Clinton speak in Rec Hall on Penn State's University Park campus on Sunday evening. Her visit was the latest in a long string of campaign visits statewide over the past several weeks. It was Clinton's last stop in a day that included visits to Bethlehem and Johnstown. As the countdown to the primary winds down to less than 24 hours, the candidates continue to get in a few last-minute stops. (more)
Sen. Barack Obama, candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, will hold a town hall meeting, "On Track for Change," at Penn State Greater Allegheny on Monday, April 21. The event will take place at the campus' Wunderley Gymnasium, 4000 University Drive, McKeesport, Pa. 15132. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the program begins at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. However, seating is limited and tickets are required. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Members of the public can pick up free tickets from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday (April 20) and beginning 9 a.m. Monday (April 21) at McKeesport Grassroots Office, 539 Shaw Ave., McKeesport, Pa. 15132. For security reasons, no bags, no umbrellas and no signs of any kind will be permitted to be taken in to the event.

In a last-minute flurry of campaign activity before Tuesday's primary election, the presidential candidates and their representatives are making several stops throughout Pennsylvania over the next few days, including stops at several Penn State campuses. The most recent addition to the schedule is a visit by Sen. Hillary Clinton to Rec Hall on Penn State's University Park campus at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 20. The doors will open at 6 p.m.
In preparation for the visit, the main gym in Rec Hall will be closed all day Sunday, although the south gym will remain open throughout the day. For security reasons, no bags, no umbrellas and no signs of any kind will be permitted to be taken in to Rec Hall. The only entrance to the event will be the front doors by the Curtin-Burrowes intersection, where metal detectors will be in use. Over the past six weeks, Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. Representatives from the cable television channel C-SPAN will be at Penn State's University Park campus Thursday and Friday, April 17-18, as part of its political campaign coverage leading up to the Pennsylvania primary election on April 22. (more)
Penn State students are invited to visit the Berkey Creamery on Wednesday morning, April 16, between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m., when CN8, the Comcast television network, will broadcast live segments during two of its morning shows. Students who come to the Creamery during those hours may have the chance to be interviewed live on the topic of the Youth Vote. (more)
Actor Sean Astin and Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy will visit two Penn State campuses during the next several days to speak on behalf of the two Democratic candidates for president. Astin will appear at Penn State Hazleton at 3 p.m. Friday, April 11, on the steps of the Charles T. Butler Teaching and Learning Resource Center on the campus mall to support Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign for the Democratic presidential primary. Kennedy will appear at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, in the McGarvey Commons of the Reed Union Building at Penn State Erie for a town hall meeting in support of Sen. Barack Obama. (more)
