Firefighters battled a controlled blaze on the tarmac at Penn State's University Park Airport on May 23 during a full-scale emergency exercise. The exercise was designed to provide real-time training and recertification for emergency response personnel from around the Centre Region.

Limited parking changes for Blue-White Game; fans can pre-print pass

The parking lots immediately surrounding Beaver Stadium looked to be about as full as they are for regular-season football games, as fans took advantage of beautiful weather to hold their pre-game tailgates.

Fans attending Penn State's Blue-White Game presented by AAA should be aware of some changes to gameday parking around Beaver Stadium. Fans also will have an opportunity pre-print a parking pass for Saturday's contest. The Blue-White Game will kick at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 in Beaver Stadium. Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. Gates A & B will open for fans at 11:30 a.m. for the autograph session, which begins at noon. Gates C & E will open at 12:30 p.m. Gameday parking and admission to the Blue-White Game are free. (more)

Several changes will take place in University Park campus commuter parking areas to make way for the annual Blue/White Carnival. The carnival will be set up in the section of Lot Stadium West directly adjacent to the stadium and Curtin Road. This section of the lot will be closed from 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, through 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 22. (more)

Unregistered bicycles may be confiscated; registration is free

Starting April 18, officials from Penn State Transportation Services will be tagging unregistered bikes on campus. If the owner of a tagged bicycle doesn't contact Transportation Services within 72 hours, the bike will be taken and held for 90 days. (more)

The Office of Physical Plant (OPP) at Penn State's University Park campus has declared a Midnight Clear for tonight (Jan. 20). As a result, parking will be restricted in surface parking lots from midnight to 7 a.m. on Jan. 21, with some exceptions. According to weather reports, about 4 inches of snow is expected to fall in State College tonight. (more)

Commuters will be able to access lot Orange E (near Shields Building) from University Drive only. Those who wish to access lot Orange D (near Wagner Building) and Orange M (near the Intramural Building), must enter Curtin Road from Bigler Road. The 15th-ranked Penn State women's soccer team hosts Nebraska on Friday at 8 p.m. Intercollegiate Athletics has released its parking advisory for Friday night in relation to the evening's Penn State Homecoming Parade and concert at Bryce Jordan Center. The 8 p.m. kick-off is an hour later than originally scheduled due to the parade. The parade will force some parking lots and road to close around the University Park campus. (more)
