Firefighters battled a controlled blaze on the tarmac at Penn State's University Park Airport on May 23 during a full-scale emergency exercise. The exercise was designed to provide real-time training and recertification for emergency response personnel from around the Centre Region.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

University Park, Pa -- Alternate viewing locations are available across the University Park campus for those unable to attend President Barack Obama's Thursday (Feb. 3) speech in person. Obama is speaking in Rec Hall on the campus during a ticketed event with an expected crowd of 3,000 people.The speech will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network beginning at noon Eastern time on Thursday, Feb. 3, and will be shown at alternate viewing sites on campus.
