Firefighters battled a controlled blaze on the tarmac at Penn State's University Park Airport on May 23 during a full-scale emergency exercise. The exercise was designed to provide real-time training and recertification for emergency response personnel from around the Centre Region.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

University policy addresses climate research allegations

During the past two weeks, allegations have been made of research misconduct by several scientists engaged in global climate research, including a Penn State faculty member. These allegations have been discussed widely in the media and web-based outlets. Due to the controversial nature of the topic, University officials fully expect that these allegations will be discussed for many months to come and have issued a statement related to the University's policy for handling these types of issues.
