Firefighters battled a controlled blaze on the tarmac at Penn State's University Park Airport on May 23 during a full-scale emergency exercise. The exercise was designed to provide real-time training and recertification for emergency response personnel from around the Centre Region.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

Penn State New Kensington is offering two preparation courses for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry, Pa. Beginning in the fall, Penn State New Kensington will offer a master of business administration (MBA) degree. It was announced recently by Jan Orris, retiring director of continuing education.

The campus will partner with Penn State Erie, The Behrend College to offer the MBA at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry, Pa. A work-in-progress for 12 years, the program was officially approved in December. (more)
