The Miami Dolphins selected Penn State defensive tackle Jared Odrick (Lebanon) Thursday (April 22) night in the first round of the National Football League Draft. One of two Big Ten Conference players invited to the attend the NFL Draft, Odrick was the No. 28 overall selection. A 2009 first team All-American, the 6-5, 304-pound Odrick is the 36th Nittany Lion to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, 33 of whom have played for Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno. Six Penn State football student-athletes have been invited to participate in the National Football League's 2010 Scouting Combine. The Nittany Lions lead the Big Ten in total invitees the past two years with 14. Penn State All-Americans Jared Odrick (DT, Lebanon) and Navorro Bowman (LB, District Heights, Md.) will participate in the Combine, which will be held Feb. 24-March 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Quarterback Daryll Clark (Youngstown, Ohio), linebacker Josh Hull (Millheim), linebacker Sean Lee (Pittsburgh) and tight end Andrew Quarless (Uniondale, N.Y.) also have been invited to the Combine. Penn State standouts Sean Lee (Pittsburgh) and Jared Odrick (Lebanon, Pa.) have accepted invitations to play in the 61st Annual Under Armour Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 30. Lee and Odrick are playing for the North squad, which will be coached by Jim Schwartz and the staff of the Detroit Lions. Kickoff is at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. Penn State junior linebacker Navorro Bowman and senior defensive tackle Jared Odrick (Lebanon) have earned several additional All-America honors. Bowman has been selected a second team All-American by Sporting News, SI.com (Sports Illustrated), Rivals.com and Phil Steele's College Football. Earlier this week, the standout linebacker was named a second team All-American by CBSsports.com and a third team choice by the Associated Press. Bowman has garnered six All-America recognitions thus far. Odrick earned second team All-America honors from Rivals.com and Phil Steele's and third team accolades from Sporting News. Odrick previously was selected to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team, becoming Penn State's 94th first team All-American. He also was named a second team All-Americans by the Associated Press and CBSsports.com, giving him six All-America honors so far. (more)

Penn State senior defensive tackle Jared Odrick (Lebanon, Pa.), junior linebacker Navorro Bowman (District Heights, Md.) and senior tackle Dennis Landolt (Burlington, N.J.) have been named to the Associated Press All-America team. Odrick was named to the second team, while Bowman and Landolt were third team selections. Penn State and Iowa led all Big Ten schools with three AP All-Americans. (more)

Senior defensive tackle Jared Odrick (Lebanon) has become Penn State's 94th first team All-America selection. The standout was selected to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team, the first All-America squad to be announced for the 2009 campaign. The AFCA, which chooses one team, has selected an All-America team annually since 1945. The 2009 Big Ten Defensive Player and Defensive Lineman of the Year, Odrick is the 80th Penn State football student-athlete to earn first team All-America recognition, a total of 94 times, dating back to W.T. (Mother) Dunn's selection to the Walter Camp All-America squad in 1906. (more)

A conference-high six members of the Penn State football team have been selected first team All-Big Ten and senior defensive tackle Jared Odrick (Lebanon) was named Defensive Player of the Year in voting by the conference head coaches and media panel. In addition to becoming Penn State's fourth conference Defensive Player of the Year in the past 12 seasons, Odrick also was named Defensive Lineman of the Year by the coaches. Odrick is the first interior lineman selected for the conference's top defensive honor since Ohio State's Dan Wilkinson in 1993. (more)

A trio of Penn State's All-Big Ten performers have been named to the Watch List for the 40th Rotary Lombardi Award. Junior linebacker Navorro Bowman (District Heights, Md.), senior linebacker Sean Lee (Pittsburgh) and senior defensive tackle Jared Odrick (Lebanon) are among the candidates for the prestigious award, which is limited to down linemen and those defensive players who line up within five yards of the football.
