A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

Penn State's Information Technology Services (ITS) is warning members of the University community to be alert for a new email phishing scam designed to coerce faculty, staff and students into revealing their Penn State WebAccess login IDs and passwords. The scam email directs readers to a website that looks nearly identical to the University's "thumbprint" WebAccess login page. (more)

Penn State's Information Technology Services is activating a new email filter to prevent the accumulation of unsolicited email (also known as spam) in the inboxes of University faculty, staff and students. The new email filter, which is set to activate on Tuesday, May 22, will identify suspicious messages such as phishing scams and other email-based fraud. IT Matters Breakfast Series examines libraries of the future

Registration is now open for the IT Matters Breakfast Series, hosted by Kevin Morooney, vice provost for Information Technology at Penn State. Morooney will be joined by Barbara Dewey, dean of the University Libraries and Scholarly Communications, for a thought-provoking discussion of the impact of technology on the future of university libraries. The program, "Library Futures," is will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Feb. 28 in the Nittany Lion Inn Ballroom. A breakfast buffet will be served.
