Penn State Greater Allegheny Faculty members Elizabeth Mazur, Margaret Signorella and Michelle Hough have contributed a chapter to the Encyclopedia of Cyber Behavior. The Encyclopedia of Cyber Behavior is intended to offer the first definitive and most comprehensive presentation of existing substantial knowledge concerning cyber behavior. (more)
On Feb. 28 and 29, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Continuing Education Department will offer a 15-hour assisted-living administrator program. The standardized, department-approved curriculum for assisted-living administrators includes the following courses: Assisted-Living Resident Composition/Aging in Place; Person Centered Care; Neurological Impairments; Infection Control and Informed Consent.
Beginning Thursday, March 4, through Wednesday, March 29, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Continuing Education department will offer a 100-hour Personal Care Home Administrator Program. The standardized, department-approved curriculum for personal-care home administrators also can be used as annual training for personal-care home administrators. (more)
Schell Games, a full-service game design and development studio specializing in creating innovative interactive experiences, will be on campus from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, in Room 122 of the Frable Building. Representatives from Schell will talk with students about current needs in the gaming industry, including the need for students with degrees in English. The Three Rivers Theatre Company will present an updated version of Aristophanes' famous anti-war play "Lysistrata" during the next two weekends in the Cultural and Fitness Center, at Penn State Greater Allegheny, 4000 University Drive in McKeesport. The show will run at 8 p.m. on Feb. 17, 18, 24 and 25, and at 2 p.m. Feb. 18, 19 and 25. The play is rated PG-13 for adult language and sexual situations. Leigh-Ann Bedal, assistant professor in anthropology at Penn State Erie, the Behrend College, will present "Constructed Paradise: Conspicuous Consumption and the Petra Garden and Pool Complex" at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, in the Ostermayer Room of the Student Community Center. Bedal received her degrees from California State University, University of California, Berkley (master's degree) and the University of Pennsylvania (doctoral degree), and specializes in Near Eastern archaeology, urbanization and garden archaeology. She has excavated in Iraq, Syria, Israel, Italy and Jordan, and is the project director of the Petra Garden and Pool-Complex Excavation in Jordan. (more)
At 7 p.m. Jan. 25, Penn State Greater Allegheny will hold a Wii tournament in the cafeteria of the Student Community Center. Participants will pay $3 to compete with each other to "Michael Jackson: The Experience" and "Just Dance" to determine who has the best dance moves. All proceeds will benefit cancer research. (more)

A multimedia performance of "King's Dream" will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the Ostermayer Room of the Student Community Center at Penn State Greater Allegheny. The performance is a tribute to the life and teachings of Martin Luther King Jr. Key Arts Productions uses songs, live narrative and powerful film footage in this presentation of what led to an era of social unrest in America during the turbulent 1960s. Douglas Charles, assistant professor of history at Penn State Greater Allegheny, has been in the news recently with the release of the new movie about J.Edgar Hoover (J. Edgar, 2011). Charles specializes in the history of the FBI, about which he has written two books and several articles. (more)
