Mike Rybar made final adjustments to the Penn State Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering teams Goldberg machine prior to the 2012 Rube Goldberg competition held on Feb. 11 at Penn State's Nittany Lion Inn. Rybar and his team created a musically themed machine that needed to complete a simple task (inflate a balloon) in twenty or more elaborate steps. The annual competition is named for cartoonist Rube Goldberg who created famous artwork depicting overly complicated machines doing everyday tasks.

Uniontown Hospital Auxiliary presents gift to Penn State Fayette

The Uniontown Hospital Auxiliary recently contributed $10,000 to the Nursing Scholarship Program at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. The donation resulted from proceeds of the volunteer corps Festival of Trees Holiday Event held annually at Uniontown Hospital. The scholarship provides financial assistance to area students pursuing degrees in nursing at Penn State Fayette. (more)

The W.B. Kania & Associates Trustee Scholarship has been established at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus to provide financial assistance to students enrolled at the campus. The scholarship was made possible by a gift of $25,000 from W.B. Kania & Associates, matched by $25,000 from Joe Hardy, campus chairman of For the Future, The Campaign for Penn State Students. Annual scholarships will be awarded from the fund beginning with the fall of 2012 semester, with first preference given to students who are Fayette County residents. (more)
