The Washington Redskins Saturday selected Evan Royster(Fairfax, Va.), Penn State's career rushing yardage leader in the sixth round of the National Football League Draft. A three-time All-Big Ten selection, Royster joins All-America Stefen Wisniewski as Nittany Lions selected in the 2011 NFL Draft. Wisniewski was the No. 48 overall pick by the Oakland Raiders. Royster and Wisniewski became Penn State's seventh and eighth three-time All-Big Ten honorees last fall. (more)

A pair of Penn State's All-Big Ten performers, Ollie Ogbu (Staten Island) and Evan Royster (Fairfax, Va.), have accepted invitations to play in the 86th East-West Shrine Game on Saturday, Jan. 22. The contest will be played at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, Fla., the site of Penn State's win over LSU in the 2010 Capital One Bowl. The East-West Shrine Game will begin at 4 p.m. ET and be televised by NFL Network (Comcast Ch. 180, 275 and 860 in State College). (more)
Three Penn State Football student-athletes have been selected to the 2010 All-Big Ten Team in voting by the conference coaches and media. Senior guard Stefen Wisniewski (Bridgeville) was selected first team all-conference by the coaches for the second consecutive year. Senior defensive tackle and co-captain Ollie Ogbu (Staten Island, N.Y.) was selected to the second team by the coaches, as was senior tailback Evan Royster (Fairfax, Va.). The Nittany Lions' all-time leading rusher, Royster earned first team All-Big Ten accolades last year and second team in 2008. (more)
Penn State senior tailback Evan Royster (Fairfax, Va.) has been selected as a candidate for the 2010 Doak Walker Award, the PricewaterhouseCoopers SMU Athletic Forum announced on Wednesday. The award, which Royster was a finalist for in 2008 and a nominee for in 2009, is presented annually to the nation's top collegiate running back. (more)
Penn State senior tailback Evan Royster (Fairfax, Va.) and junior defensive end Jack Crawford (Longport, N.J.) have been selected to the watch lists for two national awards presented by the Maxwell Football Club. Royster also has been named, for the second consecutive year, to the watch list for the Walter Camp Football Foundation's Player of the Year award. The honor is the nation's fourth-oldest individual college football accolade. Royster is among 30 players on the watch list, five of whom are from Big Ten Conference teams. (more)
Coach Joe Paterno and a trio of standout student-athletes will represent Penn State at the 39th Annual Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon Festivities, August 2-3 in Chicago. Pre-season All-Americans Evan Royster (Fairfax, Va.) and Stefen Wisniewski (Bridgeville) and junior cornerback D'Anton Lynn (Celina, Texas) will join Paterno at the prestigious event. Activities will be held at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago as the Big Ten prepares for its 115th season of football competition. The Kickoff activities will include news conferences with every Big Ten head coach and players from each squad. Interviews with print and electronic media will take place on both days. The Kickoff Luncheon is August 3, with a crowd of more than 1,500 expected to attend. (more)

A senior guard, Wisniewski was selected a first team All-American, joining his prior first team accolades from Phil Steele's College Football Preview and Lindy's Football Preview. All-Big Ten tailback Evan Royster (Fairfax, Va.) announced Wednesday he will remain at Penn State for his senior season. "I wanted to return to finish my degree and for my final year at Penn State," Royster said. "I'm looking forward to next season." Royster is a Management Information Systems major and is on schedule to graduate in May. He made his decision to return to Penn State without having his NFL draft status prospects known. (more)
