New graduates of Penn State's Eberly College of Science listened to the commencement address provided by United States Secretary of Energy Steven Chu during spring 2012 graduation ceremonies held May 5 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

Pine Hall property expands University's energy research space

Penn State's Board of Trustees voted today (March 20) to approve the purchase of property at 2011 Pine Hall Drive, Ferguson Township, near the intersection of College Avenue and Science Park Road. "The purchase of this property will immediately address some of our most critical space needs in the Energy Institute, where the lack of labs and offices continues to hinder current and future research programs," said Al Horvath, vice president for Finance and Business.
