During the Transitions College and Career Prep Program, students learn basic math, English, time management, financial aid, technology, note-taking and research skills, all in a welcoming environment. The free program helps returning and first-time adult students build the confidence they need to succeed.
More than 42,000 Pennsylvania and 11.2 million U.S. public school children speak a language other than English at home, according to state and federal reports. To help these children learn English, teachers need specialized knowledge about learning a second language and a new culture. Penn State's Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) Certificate Program with an Ecuador Immersion Experience can help by providing an accelerated education option for teachers and Penn State students. Penn State Lehigh Valley is offering two-week, half-day youth camps July 9-20 and July 23-Aug. 3. Camps are available in writing, visual arts and engineering and are geared toward a particular grade level from kindergarten through grade 12.
