New graduates of Penn State's Eberly College of Science listened to the commencement address provided by United States Secretary of Energy Steven Chu during spring 2012 graduation ceremonies held May 5 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

Pay for Play fundraiser shatters old record, raises $112,200

The fifth annual People's Pay for Play on 105.7 The X raised a record-breaking $112,200 for Children's Miracle Network and the kids at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. The People's Morning Show personalities, Nipsey, Earl David Reed, and Jen Shade, made the commitment to remain live on the air for the 28-hour marathon broadcast on Nov. 17 and 18. The radio station whose format is known as Active Rock Radio, allowed listeners to "Pay for Play" by making donations of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 or more. The further the request was from the station's normal format, the higher the donation to have the song played. Songs of all genres were played for significant donations to Children's Miracle Network during the broadcast. (more)
