New graduates of Penn State's Eberly College of Science listened to the commencement address provided by United States Secretary of Energy Steven Chu during spring 2012 graduation ceremonies held May 5 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

New accelerated bachelor's degree in business program for busy adults

Busy adults looking for a time-efficient way to complete a bachelor's degree in business will have a brand new opportunity starting this fall. Penn State Brandywine's Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Business (BSB) is a 20-month program that meets on Saturdays. In less than two years, students can complete 60 or more business course credits toward their degree. (more)

Former U.S. Marine Jeremy Vandekar, author of "Kicking Ace - Taking Names," will recount in vivid detail his two deployments to Iraq as part of a deep reconnaissance sniper team, during his visit to Penn State Brandywine from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, in Room 103 of the Tomezsko Classroom Building.

Vandekar, who was once a student at the campus, said he wrote his book to shed light on both the physical and psychological implications of war on members of the military. (more)
