New graduates of Penn State's Eberly College of Science listened to the commencement address provided by United States Secretary of Energy Steven Chu during spring 2012 graduation ceremonies held May 5 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

College students and recent graduates preparing to enter the most challenging job market in decades, take heart. A new Big Ten Network series produced by Penn State called "It's Your Time: Find Your Future" is bringing you information, resources and guidance. The half-hour pilot episode, hosted by Marie Hardin, is scheduled to debut at 7 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, July 11, on the Big Ten Network. (more)

Unemployment is on the rise in Pennsylvania and across the nation. A new study by the National Association of Colleges and Employers finds employers expect to hire 22 percent fewer 2009 college graduates than they hired from the Class of 2008. But in central Pennsylvania, it's not all bad news for workers. Employers and Penn State adult students who are about to graduate, as well as University alumni and local residents, can explore job opportunities at the Central Pennsylvania Regional Career Fair on April 22. Penn State ranks among leaders producing alumni Peace Corp volunteers

With 57 of its undergraduate alumni in the Peace Corps in 2008, Penn State has been ranked 12th among large colleges and universities with the most alumni volunteering around the world for the federal government agency. In addition, four Penn State graduate alumni are currently serving in the Peace Corps. These 61 Penn Staters are making a positive contribution to the lives of people in 76 countries, according to Ron Tschetter, director of the Peace Corps. (more)
