The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra has performed five times before large and enthusiastic Penn State audiences. The ensemble, directed by trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, will return for a sixth gig at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, in Eisenhower Auditorium. (more)
Penn State's Blue in the FACE a cappella group will host the Varsity Vocals International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Mid-Atlantic quarterfinals at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Alumni Hall in the HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus. The event is free and open to the public. Groups will be judged on a variety of items including musicality, choreography and arrangement, among other factors. This event is a once-a-year chance to showcase a cappella and music talent from around the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. (more)
A new episode of "Impact the World" will air at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, on the Big Ten Network. The latest episode, seventh in the eight-episode series, will demonstrate how Big Ten students and faculty rally together to make a difference in their communities. (more)
Penn State's minor in sexuality and gender studies is sponsoring a symposium in the Queer Visual Culture (QVC) series on the topic of "Sexual Difficulty in Late 20th-Century Art" from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 17, in the Palmer Lipcon Auditorium at the Palmer Museum of Art on Penn State's University Park campus. Three scholars will offer papers taking various perspectives on the relationship between difficulty and sexuality in modern art. (more)
Uganda is a nation of children. About half of the country's more than 33 million people are younger than 14. Spirit of Uganda, a professional training and touring program of the nonprofit organization Empower African Children, comes to Penn State's Eisenhower Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, to share the music and dance of the lush and diverse East African country. Penn State Shenango Drama Club has announced two productions this spring: a staged reading of Emily Mann's "Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years" will be given at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, as a benefit for the Community Food Warehouse. Later, on April 13 and 14, a series of one-acts will be offered each evening under the theme: "Trifles and Other Important Things." All events will take place in the Penn State Shenango auditorium, located in downtown Sharon, Pa. Tickets for "Having Our Say" are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors, with $1 off any regular admission with the donation of a nonperishable item for the Community Food Warehouse. (more)

William Hogarth was best known during his lifetime, as he is today, for his satirical engravings. They were in high demand throughout his career and were printed in even greater volume, first by Hogarth's wife and subsequently by several others, for many years following his death in 1764. (more)
Robert Wittman, who served for 20 years as the Federal Bureau of Investigation's expert in the field of art crime, will deliver a lecture at 7 p.m. on Feb. 20 in Room 117 of the HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus. Wittman will speak about his FBI career, notorious art heists, and daring undercover recoveries. (more)
