Maureen S. Joly of Allentown, Pa., has accepted the position as director of development at Penn State Lehigh Valley. In this position, Joly will be responsible for overseeing and managing all fundraising efforts for the campus.
Joly has 18 years of experience in development and fundraising in the Lehigh Valley. Prior to her appointment, she was the director of development for the Allentown Symphony Association, and has worked for other nonprofit organizations including Grace Montessori School and Sacred Heart Hospital. The newest School of International Affairs (SIA) faculty member, Scott Gartner, is a scholar of conflict mediation and empirical studies of conflict and war. "International affairs professionals must understand the latest evidence-based methods of evaluating the cost of war, nature of violence, and dynamics of civil unrest. I am pleased to bring this perspective to the classroom," said Gartner, professor of international affairs at Penn State. (more)
Mehrdad Hadighi, an architect that Wallpaper called one of the 25 "most intriguing, innovative and intrepid architects" in the world, is the new head of the Department of Architecture and Chair in Integrative Design in the H. Sandy Feather has been promoted to director of enrollment management at Penn State Worthington Scranton.
Feather has been employed at Penn State Worthington Scranton since 2005. As associate director of enrollment management and admissions, she was responsible for establishing several new programs at the campus, such as Partners in Success, the Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Summer Academy, and instituted program target marketing and middle school outreach efforts to enhance Worthington Scranton's overall student recruitment and retention goals. Mary-Beth Krogh-Jespersen, chancellor, has announced that Griff Lewis is the new instructional designer at Penn State Worthington Scranton.
In his new position, Lewis will be responsible for developing instructional design services, materials, and delivery methods at the campus; integrating technology into teaching, learning, and research activities; and collaborating with students, faculty, staff, and administrators in developing instructional materials for projects and delivery. Sherry Kwater was recently named chief nursing officer for Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She replaces Donna Reck who left the organization in June. (more)
David J. Gray has been named senior vice president for Finance and Business at Penn State effective Feb. 6, 2012, subject to approval by the University's Board of Trustees at the January meeting. Gray will oversee the division, which includes the offices of Physical Plant, Human Resources, University Police, Investment Management, Auxiliary and Business Services, Corporate Controller, Legal Services and Commonwealth Campus Business Operations, as well as lead financial, endowment, business and administrative activities at all Penn State campuses. Bradley M. Webb was appointed director of student affairs administration at Pennsylvania College of Technology. His responsibilities include initiating programs and services in such diverse areas as parents initiatives, assessment and community involvement. (more)
Librarian Debora Cheney has been appointed head of Library Services to the World Campus/Penn State Online. Cheney will be responsible for developing and sustaining the University Libraries' strategic and administrative relationship with the World Campus and the online and e-learning programs of the University's colleges and campuses. Mary Kennett, professor in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, has been named interim head of the department, effective immediately. Also the director of the university's Animal Resource Program, Kennett succeeds Vivek Kapur, who is now associate director for strategic initiatives in the Penn State Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences.
