Terrence M. and Kim Pegula, who committed $88 million in 2010 to launch Penn State's entry into NCAA Division I hockey and construction on a state-of-the-art arena, have raised their total support for the initiative to $102 million. The additional $14 million gift was announced by Terry Pegula at the April 20 groundbreaking for the Pegula Ice Arena. The Pegulas' total commitment includes $13 million for endowed scholarships supporting Penn State men's hockey players in addition to $89 million for the facility. (more)
Penn State announced today that it has retained Edelman and La Torre Communications to immediately support the University in corporate communications, media relations and stakeholder engagement.
The primary objective of this work is to ensure broader and more transparent communications with key Penn State stakeholders, including current and prospective students, alumni, faculty and staff, parents, local communities, and state and national media. The firms also will support the University throughout upcoming litigation, ensuring rapid and accurate dissemination of information to the extent possible given the ongoing investigations. (more)
For the second consecutive year, the Alle-Kiski Society of the Penn State Alumni Association will co-sponsor the reception for student honorees at Penn State New Kensington's annual Academic and Student Achievement awards ceremony. The society, based at Penn State New Kensington, donated $500 to help recognize more than 100 students for their accomplishments during the fall and spring semesters. The "Celebration of Excellence" awards ceremony is set for 7 p.m. Friday, April 27, in the campus' Forum Theatre. (more)

Thirteen Penn State engineers will be honored on April 25 at the annual Outstanding Engineering Alumni Awards ceremony at the Nittany Lion Inn on the University Park campus. Established in 1966, the Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed by the College of Engineering and recognizes graduates who have reached exceptional levels of professional achievement. The Nittany Lion Club and the Penn State Alumni Association will team up to provide fans the chance to meet and hear from some of the leaders of Penn State Athletics this spring when the Penn State Coaches Caravan hits the road for destinations across Nittany Nation, encompassing seven states and Washington, D.C. Nittany Lion football coach Bill O'Brien will headline the bus tour of many Penn State alumni strongholds across Pennsylvania, Ohio and the East Coast. The first-year coach is scheduled to participate in all 18 Coaches Caravan stops across nine days beginning April 30 and during the first two full weeks of May. (more)
The Alle-Kiksi Society's 13th annual Alumni Golf Scramble is set for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at The Links at Spring Church in Apollo. Co-hosted by Penn State New Kensington, the tournament is open to alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends of Penn State. The $110 entry fee includes dinner, refreshments and awards. Various golf packages are available including foursomes, tee sponsorships and "dinner only." Tee sponsorships are available for $100.
Proceeds benefit the society's endowed scholarship that is awarded annually to New Kensington campus students. Five students were awarded a total of $3,000 for the 2011-12 academic year. Flowers, shrubs and unusual trees highlight a garden tour from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, on the estate of Jim and Lynn Ramage in Ford Cliff, Pa. The Afternoon Tea and Garden Tour, includes woodland gardens, perennial gardens and designed areas featuring bulbs, plants, bushes and unique trees planted by the Ramages, Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, on the couple's 37 acres in Armstrong County. A donation of $10 is requested and all proceeds benefit Penn State New Kensington's current fundraising endeavor, For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students. (more)
