University Park, Pa. -- Journalists from newspapers participating in Penn State's Newspaper Readership Program will hold a panel discussion titled "The Student Vote," from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, in the HUB-Robeson Center Auditorium. The event is free to the public. No tickets are required.
The focus of the evening will be the upcoming presidential election and the importance of the student vote. Journalists are: Ethan Bronner, assistant editorial page editor for The New York Times and 2001 Pulitzer Prize-winner for explanatory journalism; Kathy Kiely, a USA Today congressional correspondent who has covered every presidential campaign since 1980; and Adam Smeltz, writer for Centre Daily Times BLUE and a Penn State senior working as an intern with the Knight-Ridder Washington Bureau covering the presidential campaign for young readers.
The event is sponsored by the Penn State Student Newspaper Readership Program and the Penn State Political Science Association.
