With four guide ropes attached to it, the east-side clock face is raised into position. While it didn't seem that windy on the ground on Saturday, Jan. 28, winds higher up were strong, requiring extra guidance to bring the clock face safely to the Old Main bell tower.

Ben White of New Vibrations Audio and Video works on a ledge of the Old Main bell tower, to remove the speakers from the old chime system. The company installed a new carillon system today (Jan. 27) that will play a digital recording made of the original Old Main bell that now sits adjacent to Old Main and other bells of comparable sizes.

Penn State Sesquicentennial Games logo to be unveiled

Tuesday, April 20, 2004

Unversity Park, Pa. -- The Penn State Sesquicentennial Games' board of directors is excited to announce the unveiling of the Sesquicentennial Games logo during the Movin' On concert on April 24, on the HUB-Robeson Center's lawn. The logo will be on display at Movin' On at the main tent (located in the center of the HUB lawn) beginning at noon.
The Sesquicentennial Games will be held on October 1-3, 2004, at the University Park campus. The Games will celebrate Penn State’s 150th anniversary by taking a look at the University's celebrated history and encouraging unity among Penn State students, alumni and community members.

Activities will include lighting of the ceremonial torch, competitive games among all Penn State campuses, spaghetti dinners benefiting the Second Mile, speakers and a themed dance.

The logo was selected by the Sesquicentennial Games' board of directors from 20 designs created by graphic design students in Professor Kristin Sommese’s Art 371 class. Kyle Kostesich created the winning design. The logo will soon be seen on banners, posters, letterheads, t-shirts and other promotional items for the Sesquicentennial Games.
