
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- This spring, the Palmer Musem of Art will welcome Penn State poets and other literary friends for poetry readings in the galleries.
-- William J. Doan, associate dean in the College of Arts and Architecture and professor of theatre, will read at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1. Doan’s first chapbook, "orantes linguis," was published by Corrupt Press in fall 2011 and is based on his childhood experiences in southwest Ohio.
-- Rachel Mennies, poet, will read at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 14. A recent graduate of the master of fine arts program in creative writing, Mennies currently resides in Pittsburgh and is the reviews editor of AGNI Online. She was recently a featured poet at Poets for Living Waters, a poetry action in response to the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster in 2010.
-- George Looney, professor of English and creative writing at Penn State Erie, the Behrend College, will read at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 4. Looney chairs the bachelor of fine arts program in creative writing at Erie campus, the only undergraduate creative writing program in the Penn State system. The recipient of numerous fellowships and literary awards, he is the author of several collections of poetry, including "A Short Bestiary of Love and Madness" (2011), and the forthcoming "Monks Beginning to Waltz" (2012).
