Librarian Debora Cheney has been appointed head of Library Services to the World Campus/Penn State Online. Cheney will be responsible for developing and sustaining the University Libraries’ strategic and administrative relationship with the World Campus and the online and e-learning programs of the University’s colleges and campuses.

The appointment signifies a new partnership with the World Campus, the colleges and the campuses in providing collaborative and systematic development of library instructional, reference and collections services in support of online instruction and study. In exploring new paths of collaboration, Cheney will report to Jack Sulzer, associate dean for undergraduate and learning services and work closely with the director of the Commonwealth Campus Libraries and the heads of the Knowledge Commons; Library Learning Services; Reference, Collections and Research Services; Special Collections; and the Libraries’ Information Technology Department as well as the associate dean for collections and information access services and the associate dean for research and scholarly communications.

Libraries' services for Penn State Online and the World Campus and orientation videos are available at http://student.worldcampus.psu.edu/academic-support-resources/library-services.

Cheney will continue in her role as the Foster Communications Librarian, and Cheryl McCallips, reference and instruction librarian, will take over as acting head of the News and Microforms Library. In addition, Cheney will work with Kimlyn Patishnock, senior director of administrative and financial services, to coordinate the development of a University Libraries master plan for collections and services space with assistance from the Office of Physical Plant and a library space consultant that will provide a full analysis of all University Park libraries space needs and options for the future.

As the Libraries move forward into a digital future, services to the World Campus and Penn State Online, among others, will continue to expand. For more information, contact Jack Sulzer at 814-865-3819.
