With four guide ropes attached to it, the east-side clock face is raised into position. While it didn't seem that windy on the ground on Saturday, Jan. 28, winds higher up were strong, requiring extra guidance to bring the clock face safely to the Old Main bell tower.

The company installed a new carillon system today (Jan. 27) that will play a digital recording made of the original Old Main bell that now sits adjacent to Old Main and other bells of comparable sizes.

University trustees set tuition for 2010-11

DuBois, Pa. -- Penn State's Board of Trustees on July 9 approved tuition and fees for the 2010-11 academic year. Tuition for Commonwealth Campus students will increase 3.9 percent. Tuition for lower division non-resident students at University Park will increase by 4.5 percent, and resident students at University Park will see an increase of 5.9 percent.

Translated into dollars, in-state lower-division students will see a tuition increase per semester of $404 at University Park; $235 at Altoona, Berks, Erie and Harrisburg; and $225 at the other Commonwealth Campuses. Non-resident lower-division students will see a tuition increase per semester of $571 at University Park; $360 at Altoona, Berks, Erie and Harrisburg; and $344 at the other Commonwealth Campuses.

The current per-semester Information Technology Fee will be increased $6 for all full-time students. The Student Activity Fee will be increased by $3 per semester at University Park. The fee will increase by a range of $5 to $10 at 14 campuses and will remain the same at seven campuses.

The Student Facilities Fee, implemented in 2008-09, will increase in 2010-11 by $4 at University Park and between $2 and $4 at other campuses with the fee.

Tuition for students in the College of Medicine will increase $1,744 per academic year for Pennsylvania residents and $1,652 for non-residents. This will bring the tuition rates to $37,326 per year for Pennsylvanians and $48,812 per year for non-residents.
