A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

Libraries to hold presentation on Hinduism

The University Libraries will hold a presentation titled "Hinduism: Principles, Beliefs, Traditions, and Practices," from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 22, in Foster Auditorium (room 101) at Pattee Library on Penn State's University Park campus. It is being held in conjunction with the Hindu festival of Diwali, which this year falls on Oct. 17.

This event is organized by the University Libraries Diversity Committee as part of its Religion and Culture Speaker Series. Presenter Anil Kulkarni, Penn State professor of mechanical engineering, will talk about the religion and take questions from the audience. This event also will be available for viewing online, through MediaSite Live. The University Libraries Diversity Committee works to educate and interest the Penn State community in diversity.
