Glenn Thompson, of Pennsylvania's 5th District.

On Tuesday, June 30, U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson paid a daylong visit to Penn State’s University Park campus and was briefed on the University’s progress in teaching, research and development across a variety of programs, from food science to fuel science.

Thompson began the day with a briefing. From there, he met with Hank Foley, dean of the College of Information Sciences and Technology, and Ed Liszka, senior research associate and director of the Applied Research Laboratory.

Thompson finished the day with tours of the food science building, led by Robert Steele, former dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences; various laboratories at the Earth and Mineral Sciences Energy Institute, led by Alan Scaroni, associate dean for research and professor of fuel science; and the Breazeale Nuclear Reactor, led by David Wormley, dean of the College of Engineering.

Thompson, a Penn State graduate and first-term congressman from Pennsylvania’s 5th District, is a member of the House Agriculture, Education and Labor, and Small Business committees.
