University Park, Pa. — An accidental electrical fire early Thursday (Feb. 26) morning at the house located at 240 N. Burrowes Rd. on Penn State's University Park campus displaced the building's 24 occupants, though no one was injured.
The residents of the former Phi Delta Theta house have accepted campus housing. The students were able to retrieve their belongings from the home on Thursday morning.
The fire, which began at approximately 2:40 a.m., was contained to the house's fourth floor penthouse by the house's sprinkler system until Alpha Fire Co. arrived to douse the remaining flames, according to Steve Bair, fire director for the Centre Region Council of Governments. There appeared to be limited water and fire damage, he added, but it will likely be several weeks before the house is habitable.
