Tuesday, January 6, 2009University Park, PA — Weather conditions in the morning (Jan. 7) are expected to create icing conditions on roadways and sidewalks. Penn State employees who perform essential services are requested to report to work at their normal times. All other employees should use their best judgment to make personal decisions regarding traveling to work in inclement weather. Employees may charge their absence to vacation time when weather conditions cause a concern for personal safety. Supervisors are asked to be understanding if employees take time off because of weather conditions.
Faculty and staff also should review "Handling Weather Day Absences" (Human Resources Guideline 10) on the Web at http://guru.psu.edu/policies/OHR/hrg10.html for specific information on how time missed for weather situations is handled.
