University Park, Pa. -- The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State is holding a party for University Park students, complete with free food, entertainment and prizes, from 8 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, on the patio in front of Eisenhower Auditorium. During that two-hour period students may purchase tickets to all but one of the 2008-2009 Center for the Performing Arts presentations for 20 percent off the already-discounted student prices.
Presentations eligible for the additional discount include the touring Broadway musicals "Chicago," "Hairspray," "Jesus Christ Superstar" starring Ted Neeley and Corey Glover, and "Ain't Misbehavin'" starring "American Idol" alumni Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis. Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, world music superstars Angelique Kidjo and Mariza, Japanese drummers KODO and dance-illusionist troupe MOMIX in Lunar Sea also are among the discount-eligible events.
In order to purchase discounted tickets, a student must show his or her Penn State identification card. Each eligible student may purchase one discount-priced ticket per event. If students want to sit with friends, they should purchase their tickets at the same time. The additional 20 percent savings does not apply to previous purchases. The Ax-Perlman-Ma trio is the only presentation that is not eligible for the additional discount.
