Wednesday, July 23, 2008They wear college football's most distinctive uniforms, and the traditional white helmet with a single blue stripe is as much a symbol of the team-first attitude of the Nittany Lion football squad as the jerseys with no name. Now Penn State supporters can vote for the austere head gear as the best helmet in all of college football in an ESPN.com poll pitting some of the most well-known helmets against each other.
Penn State takes on Clemson in the first round of the Helmet Clash, which ends today (July 23) at 3:30 p.m. when the winner will be announced on College Football Live on ESPN. As of early Wednesday morning, the Lions trailed the Tigers in the poll, so Penn State fans will have work to do to catch up.
