Soggy Children's Day opens Arts Festival '08

Although at times the rain fell in torrential sheets, festival-goers made the best of it and enjoyed the activities on the Old Main Lawn.
Children's Day at the Arts Festival opened with a downpour on Wednesday (July 9), but the young festival-goers didn't seem to mind too much as they enjoyed a variety of activities on Penn State University Park's Old Main lawn and in downtown State College.
The main portion of the 42nd Annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts gets under way on Thursday, July 10, and festival organizers expect more than 125,000 alumni and friends to visit from now through Sunday. Fortunately, the forecast for the rest of the Arts Festival looks much more favorable, with highs in the 80s and dry conditions for the rest of the week.
