George Khoury, a chemical engineering student, was named one of the winners of this year's Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.
Khoury is one of four Penn State students selected for the award. The other students, all from the Eberly College of Science, are Andrew Lutas, Kristin Potts and Andrew Shevchuk. Khoury is also minoring in chemistry.
A total of 321 students were awarded Goldwater Scholarships for the upcoming academic year.
Goldwater Scholars are selected from students majoring in math, science and engineering. The one- and two-year scholarships cover the cost of tuition, fees, books and room and board for up to a maximum of $7,500 per year.
Established in 1986, the scholarship program honors Sen. Barry M. Goldwater and is designed to foster and encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in math, the natural sciences and engineering.
